Shigure lives "outside" of the Sohma main house and is acting guardian for Yuki and Kyo.

Shigure is usually seen as a kimono wearing author. The reason he wears a kimono is because "the image of an author is a person who wears a kimono and holds a pen." As can be seen from his words, it's hard to tell just how serious he is. The look in his eyes changes at the mention of high school girls, one of the reasons he gives for becoming an author is because he wouldn't have to keep a proper lifestyle... He seems to be very irresponsible but it could just be an image he projects. Mayuko described Shigure as "wavelets" after going out with him for one month in the past.

Amongst the 12shi, he is the one who most often goes to see Akito and holds a great deal of his trust but......

Beneath that pleasant smile, Shigure hides the fangs that he carries. He smiles, hiding the ace that no one knows in his heart. He brags saying "because Akito is the most important." The sweet dream that he saw. A sad yet tender feeling. While Hatori and Ayame found it difficult, Shigure is trying to achieve that dream in a tangible form. Even if it means hurting someone along the way. Even if the victim is Tohru...

Habit of running away, or teasing the editor?
As long as life's fun, that's all that counts. The most important person is oneself. That is Shigure's way of life; in other words happy, go lucky. That teasing personality is mostly aimed at Kyo and his editors. His favourite trick is running away. ...most people don't do that since the consequences are scary.

Wavelets or jellyfish. That's how people describe Shigure. He always watches over people from a distance. "That one day you'll be able to take care of the one who tells you they love you" and "That you remain yourself" are some of his words that have stirred people's emotions.
