The resident medical practitioner for the Sohma family. His primary patient is clan leader Akito. Hatori once said "Akito's specialty is getting sick easily." Also, in cases such as when Yuki collapsed from a bronchial attack and when Tohru came down with a cold, he will make home visits out to Shigure's place.

He's also the one to take care of "hiding" people's memory when they discover the Sohma Clan's secret. He uses this ability only when ordered to by Akito. And just as there are victims who have lost important memories to this ability, there are also people whose troubled souls have been eased.

Childhood friends with Shigure and Ayame, they also went to high school together. Generally he has a serious personality, but there's also a more mischievous part to him such that he will deliberately miss when giving Shigure needles.

It becomes Spring...!!

Sunshine to melt the snow
Closed within the main house, Hatori encountered his one and only "Spring" She'd once said that when snow melts it becomes Spring. And when she discovered Hatori's secret she told him "don't distance yourself from me" and "I want to be by your side." But, all of that ended unexpectedly. That day when they went to see Akito seeking his permission to get married. Hatori's left eye and Kana's spirit were injured and would never be able to return to the way they once were.

For me, I'm happy to have been able
to meet everyone...
If I really am being used for some reason
If it means I'm able to live as I am now
I want to say "thank you"...

In order to protect one's soul
Hatori has had to "hide" many people's memories. He erased anyone's memory on Akito's orders. From erasing Yuki's friends memories to Momiji's mother's. And amongst all that, he met Kana. But, Kana too... In order to save her troubled soul, he erased her memories. Kana's final words were "I'm sorry, I couldn't protect you."

Hatori's mother passed away from illness around when he was in elementary school while his father died of illness in his high school years. While he has the ability to "erase" people's memories (kioku inpei), this ability is not a special power limited to him. Rather, it's a technique similar to hypnosis that Hatori's family developed and passed on from generation to generation. It's pure chance that Hatori was born in that family and was also one of the 12shi.

He especially enjoys tobacco and has a strong tolerance for alcohol. He also has a lazy point; if he takes something off, he stays that way.... During high school, he was also quite popular with the girls at the neighboring all girl's high school; or rather, all three of the mabudachi trio were. However, Hatori never wet out with any of them. Currently, he's started with being good friends with Mayu-chan; although they sometimes argue.
