For Fans By Fans!

The below is a slightly edited version of a post I made to a message board. Since that board is closed and the messages gone I decided to post the idea up here for further consideration and debate. At the end of my ramble I've set up a message board for further discussion on the topic.

This is something I've been thinking about for a while. I apologize in advance, this is gonna be wordy, and I may wander around a bit. I've been an anime fan for most of my life. I started with Starblazers when it first aired when I was 5 or 6 or so and have been hooked ever since. I discovered organized internet fandom in High School and college (about 10 years ago for me) and have been amazed at the ingenuity and skills that most anime fans can command. The attitudes towards anime have changed so much it amazing. I remember when to say you liked anime either got you blank looks or people thought you were a sex fiend. I remember when a big controversy in the anime community was "Anime" vs. "Japanimation" not "TV Otakus" (sailor moon, DBZ, Pokemon fans) vs "True Otaku" (*dubbed!* subbed? ha! I watch it RAW!). But what I've been noticing recently, is a growing dissatisfaction with our fansubbing community and a lingering resentment with the commercial segment of the community (the commercial companies). Let me break down the top arguments

What are the problems?
