Method 1: The Penny Jar!
The Penny Jar is a just what it sounds like, a big jar full of loose change. Just about everybody has pocket change. Some people dump it in drawer or a jar, or leave it lying in the bottom of their purses. For the most part, that's where it stays. But those pennies and nickels can really add up! I'm going to keep track of my loose change and see what I can buy with it if I save it. I've made a few rules for the Penny Jar.
Number 1: Anything that goes in, stays in till the empty date.
Number 2: All change must be from other purchases or found, no changing bills into coins just to add it to the Penny Jar.
Number 3: When something is purchased, the Penny Jar funds must cover all applicable sales taxes and shipping.
Number 4: Money must be spent on something fandom related, but doesn't have to be anime. Games, magazines, comics, manga, toys and other collectibles are all fair game.
To better track how much change is gathered I've completely emptied what was in my Penny Jar so far. That total will be used to make the first purchases for the Penny Jar project, but won't be counted in the running total for what's been saved so far. Every 3 months I'll empty the jar and buy something with it.

Penny Jar Stats:

There is $1.01 in the Penny Jar, last counted 04/30/02.
I last emptied the jar on 04/28/02, I had $33.05.
$32.04 was spent on anime merchandise, $1.01 was put back in the jar.

With the money in the Penny Jar so far I could buy:
A character candy bar from a local store.

With the money I saved so far I have bought:
