The
Penny Jar Project!
"Anime...Crack would be Cheaper." -Spotted on a T-shirt
Anime isn't a cheap hobby. Anime prices have been falling as
anime popularity grows (Thanks Pikachu!) but most anime tapes
still average around $24, while popular mainstream movies rarely
cost more than $14-16 dollars. Many anime fans use this as an
excuse to download or buy bootleg commercial anime at a severely
reduced price. Many also accuse anime companies of jacking up
the price of anime, especially subtitled anime. This isn't the
place to discuss those oft-debated subjects. The purpose of the
Penny Jar Project is to disprove that the current prices can't
be afforded. There is one hard truth however, there is never enough
money for everything you want. It doesn't matter how much you
have, still won't be able to afford every anime VHS, DVD, movie,
game, and cool toy. All we can do is try to squeeze out as much
as we can from the dollars we have. The Penny Jar Project hopes
to show that just about anyone can afford anime, with a bit of
planning and ingenuity. Currently there is only one method in
the Penny Jar Project, but hopefully this idea will grow.
Method One: The Penny Jar
